Our meeting for January is a Sew-In.  We will work with 9-patch blocks, cutting them apart and putting them back together to make Disappearing 9-patch blocks and then assembling into quilt tops.  To speed the process up a little bit, please make a few 9-patch blocks before the meeting.

You may use a standard arrangement of 5 of one color and 4 of another; make the center square a totally different color; use 1 color for the 4 pieces, another color for the center, and 2 pieces each of complementary fabric for the opposing corners (the November optional block is/was an example of this); or make all 9 pieces different.  These blocks will be used in quilts for Nurses for Newborns as well as quilts for Home Sweet Home.  Colors are of your choosing.  And though this might seem daunting, I actually make 24 blocks in about 5 hours which includes finding and cutting the fabric and then sewing the blocks together.

 To make a finished 9-inch block, cut 9 pieces 3-1/2” x 3-1/2”.

To make a finished 12-inch block, cut 9 pieces 4-1/2” x 4-1/2”.
