From the President’s Corner

 Hello, Fellow Quilter,

Well, hopefully a foot of snow at our last meeting is the parting shot and we will have welcoming weather for our February Sew-In. Yes, our Sew-In will follow a very brief business meeting on February 15 starting at 6:30 pm. We are meeting a week later due to a scheduling conflict at the church. We have plenty of time to get our Teams together to turn out a bunch of wonderful quilts for our gift projects!

The Guild’s Board of Directors has been working very hard behind the scenes to make our Guild the best it can be, but we need some help.

Our most pressing need is for a Nominating Committee. The committee will consist of at least three people including a Board member. They will contact members who are willing to step up and lead Thimble and Thread into another year of learning, laughter, and fun. The slate of nominees for President, Vice-president, Secretary, and Treasurer should be presented at the March meeting, so this involves a month or effort and you are done. Help our Guild grow stronger by joining this important committee.

We are also in need of a Workshop Chair to make our workshops the best they can be and a committee to write a much-needed revision to our Bylaws. Contact me if you can help with any of these positions.

A final word tonight about the loss last week of Chris Willbanks. Chris was an active member and past President of Thimble and Thread. I remember her best at the quilt shows where her ready smile, steady hand, and quiet persistence made life a bit easier and a whole lot better. She will be missed.
